Writer's Block: Career paths, Hersheypark Trip

Dec 21, 2011 00:04

My goal is to be some kind of serial entrepreneur, leading to my hopeful creation and ownership of a media conglomerate of sorts. We'd make movies and produce tv shows and print comics and have a record label and all that fun stuff. I'd help other people get their own creative dreams off the ground so they can have fun and make a living at the same time.

I more or less want to start businesses, build them up, pay someone else to manage them for me and then start another one. Rinse repeat. I don't enjoy working for other people. I could do it if it was a really kick-ass creative job, but there aren't many of those around here, I'm afraid. Work shouldn't be un-fun. That's no way to live.
And now to blog about that trip to Hersheypark I took this weekend.

Sam and I headed out at about 4:00 on Saturday afternoon after he got out of class and packed his things. Even though we only stopped for gas once, it took us about three-and-a-half hours to get inside the park. There was a lot of stop-and-go traffic in Lancaster, and even more traffic to get on the park grounds. After purchasing our two-day flex tickets (which were only $17) we met up with rapidtrabbit when we got in and took a spin on the almost-one-hundred-years-old carousel that Hersheypark hosts.  I enjoyed all the carefully-orchestrated Christmas lights and displays they had set up.

We hung around inside the park for a couple hours before retreating to the warmth and food court of Hershey's Chocolate World, which is just outside the park gate and is open year round. We left for our hotel room just before both Chocolate World and the park were about to close. We were staying at a Motel 6 in Harrisburg, a mere 10 minutes away from the park. For $65 a night it wasn't bad, but the pillows were hella uncomfortable. Sam, Richard and I stayed up for most of the night going on about movies and amusement parks and the good old days of public access porn before going to bed.

Next morning (well, afternoon, really) led us to an Old Country Buffet where we had an extensive lunch and I vomited up a Pop-Tart. Then we went back to Hershey's World of Chocolate, where we rode the Great American Chocolate Tour (one of my personal favorites) and bought some unecessary crap in the gift shop.  In the park itself we rode some rides, ate some food, photographed some reindeer and bought even MORE unecessary crap. Can you believe it? We also took the Hershey Trolleyworks Tour of the
town which ended with Hershey Kisses and free kazoos.

Back at the hotel we enjoyed a small Papa John's pizza party of three. I think they're now my second favorite pizza delivery people (Domino's being the first). Richard and I watched a few episodes of Rapid T. Rabbit and Friends on his laptop and I drew an angry Nesquik bunny. Fun. The next morning (I mean afternoon again) we set our course to 30th Street Station in Philadelphia so Richard could catch a train home. Lunch was had at Dienner's Family Restaurant in Ronks, PA, just of off US-30.

Vacation! Back to real life now. But my real life is pretty fun so that's not a problem. =]

writer's block, vacation
