Night shift blues and flooding streets!
I started this LJ going to work on my 4 days of 12 hour night shifts. When those are done, I have the option of spending the next 4 days off awake at night or I can force myself to stay awake until dark so I might rejoin the land of the living the next day. Today was a bad day to try that because it rained like a bitch and the storm drains on my parents' street are clogged, causing rainwater to surge out at the top of the hill up the street and washing out a channel on either side of the road. The house is set in a way where we get no water in the basement, but our poor neighbors do. Helped Dad, my sister, and my brother in law Adam in digging out ditches and making little levies to help my neighbor across the street - she's nice, and she grows pumpkins right in her front yard!
So, after two hours of this in the rain, I was beat. I was still trying to stay awake for a few hours past that, then I slipped into a coma about 12 hours ago. Ah, well, close enough.
My hard drives overflow with piracy, as I scored a copy of 'Twice Upon a Time'. My collection of 'neat cartoons I watch when I was little and only vaugely recall' grows ever larger. I was pleasently surprised by Ralph Bakshi's 'Wizards' when I watched it last week: drunk with another friend to appreciates a good cartoon like a fine wine. - and both are in short supply in these parts. Next to find: a torrent of "The Last Unicorn".
Going to take a nap, then get to work on some of the to-do lists I made up at work this past week. Lots of rainy day projects, and we have plenty of rain.
