(no subject)
All in all I reckon this was a fairly great Christmas. My surprise for Kim went off without a hitch. I thought for sure that Maddy or Trick would have told her before I could have. Hell for a little bit there I amlost was the one to bust my secret. Never been very good at waiting for stuff like this. but we all did and I brought her to the house. She seem pretty happy with it. She keeps looking at me like i gave her the moon. it's really only a house and it was completely my pleasure to buy it for our family.
We went to her parents on Christmas, the elder Jackson in tow. They all get along so well, it like theyve known each other for a while. Not just a couple months. Heh then again look at their kids. Kim and I have known each other less than four months, feels like a lifetime. Got to meet all of her brothers families. It was a good time.
Kims notion that if we fed them and called it a party, we could get our family and friends to help us paint the house so it could be ready for us to move in worked like a charm. Lot of guys from the base poked their heads in and picked up a paint brush. Private St.James even brought his girlfriend who helped. Her and Kim got on rather well. It funny, I reckon. I remember the first time I brough Beth to an event with my C/O. I don't either of were as comfortable as St. James and Summer were. I don't know if that say something about me as a boot or as these guys captain. Sgt, or I should say Mr. Hanley since he didn't opt to re-up after the whole apocalypse was over, came buy and helped out too. Which I reckon was pretty stand up of him seeing as how he had no reason to feel like he had too.
The Elder Jackson arrived for the holidays. And as I suspected, brought a moving truck full of presents for a baby that hasn't even been born yet. Good lord I can only imagine what the old fool is gonna do once the baby comes. I love the old fool though. Had to stash him out at the Inn, specially seeing as how Maddy offered to have him stay with her and Xander. Thanks but no. He regaled us with enough stories to keep Maddy snickering for a year or too while we were all working on the house. I didn't need him bringing him home and interrogating more info for her to use against me. I never should have given her those squak boxes for a Christmas present. Lord knows she gonna be using it to give me shit, no that Xans finished with her new station house and they all moved back into town. But it was either that or a tank ride. Figured with all the Brass around and watching again the talkies were a better plan.
Last night instead of going out we stayed in and I made her dinner. We coulda gone out, if Kim woulda really insisted on it we would have, but Ralphs would have been crowded and I got the over protective thing going on about her. I didn't want her to have to fight the crowds. So we stayed in and watch the count down thing on tv and later dance just the two of us in our house. I couldn't be happier if I tried.
