Everything is set. I took what Kim had said she wanted in a house and found something that fit. I reckon theres a fine line between surprising someone with a present like this and being high handed and making big decisions without their input. I'm hoping this falls into the sooner catagory and not the latter. I reckon I wanted to get settled.

*hugs him tight, takes off at a run to the front door*
*waits for him to open it, steps inside and starts to look around*
Cowboy, this place is huge.
Reply
It's not that big.
*grabs her hand and walks with her to the living room, flipping on the light switch, turning the lights on the tree*
Do you like it?

*eyes light up, tears up slightly at the sight of the tree*
God, Jackson Morgann, you are seriously the most romantic guy in the entire world. I love you. It's perfect.

I wasn't sure you wouldn't think it was a little heavy handed. Me just pickin it out and all. I tried to get everything off your list of wishes.
*wraps arms around her and kisses her neck*
Wanna go upstairs and see the babies room?

*bounces*
Yes! I want to see everything. God, it's just perfect, Jack. Seriously, it's everything I've ever wanted.

Maddy might have been aware of a few things. I might have to let her drive a tank as payment for her silence.
*takes her hand and walks with her upstairs. opening door and turning on lights*
Theres four bedrooms up here. I reckon we can make two into guest rooms. Theres rooms above the garage, with a little work we could turn it into a guest house or an apartment for Trick if he was interested.
*continues down the hall*
Theres a bathroom out here and then a private bath in the master bedroom. *opens door to baby's room* I reckon we could make this the baby's room. Theres a door that opens into our room, so we can hear her or him in the night.
*smiles studying her expression*

*walks around the room, mentally picturing how she will decorate it*
Maddy driving a tank. That is really, really scary, Cowboy.
*turns to look at him, eyes shining*
Trick will take the apartment! I'll um use the power of the puppy eyes or something. Jack, I can't believe you managed to do this.
*crosses the room, hugs him tight*
I love you so much. You just have no idea.

Darlin', it's nothing compared to what you've done for me. You've given me a family again. I love you, Kim. There ain't much I wouldn't do to make you happy, see you smile.
*kisses her forehead*
Theres a lot that needs doing. Reckon it'd be easier to get the painting and such done before we go an move any furniture in here. Which leads us to our next dilema. We're gonna need some more furniture to put in here. I'm sure Jackson got some family heirloom stuff he'll send over when he hears we have a house. But still, you'll need to pick some more out. Lot of decisions need making to get this all homelike.

Painting is totally where we need to start. We also need to have a painting party. See, it's this thing that my parents used to do whenever they wanted to redecorate. You make food and provide drinks and call it a party to rope your friends into helping with the manual labor.

And these people just up and helped your parents paint?

Yes. I'm telling you it's the lure of food and beverages. Hell, we provide donuts? You know most of the people on the force and Xander will be here.
What will it take to buy off your soldiers?

I reckon ordering them to do it and loosely disguising it as a training mission would be a massive abuse of power.
*grins*
I think a some real food, cold beer and a couple days leave would be enough to get them here working. Sound kinda fun.

*looks around the house again*
I can't believe you got me a house. You're going to have a hell of time topping this next Christmas, Cowboy.
Reply
I'm happy you like it, Darlin'.
*chuckles a little*
I reckon I will. But I'll do my best to come up with something.
