The Winners of the 11th Challenge Are... (With Banners)
As you can guess, this entry comes without banners because I just tallied up the winners and haven't even sent Chris the report yet :-P so be patient on that, please! Also, no mod's choice for this one because there were only two and the rule is 3 or more ^.~ C'mon guys, we need more! The challenge had one tie for first place, so everyone won something :-P

Timeline: Set during "Adrift"
“Jack, if you’d lost someone wouldn’t you want to know?” He turns away from her words, from the emotion on her face, to look down on the water lapping against the rocks.
“Let me try... please,” Gwen appeals as she reaches out to touch Jack’s hand.
He concentrates on the soft warmth of her hand on top of his, the distant cries of the seagulls, and the smell of her perfume mixed with the briny saltwater to keep him in the moment, to prevent his mind from going back to those last minutes with Grey.
“Jack?”
“Yeah,” He replies, turning back to face Gwen. A strong gust of wind comes up from behind her, whipping her hair in front of her face. Jack silently reaches out to smooth it back behind her ear, his fingertips brushing against her cheek as he does. Her eyes flicker slightly at the gentle touch, fighting the urge to close, as her fingers unconsciously tighten over his.
Shifting his hand so that he’s holding hers, he turns to look out over the water. Content to sit with him, Gwen looks out too, past the water to the speck of Cardiff that can be seen on the other side.
“I’d want to know,” He mutters quietly, clutching her hand in his.

Timeline: Set during the end of "Day One" What if the alien had entered Gwen?
Gwen waits for the alien to leave Carys' body, her courage born out of her desire to save her.
Jack waits until the alien is free before throwing the inflatable cell under it.
It flickers on, only to flicker off two seconds later, causing the alien to rush inside Gwen's body.
When Gwen comes to, she begins to remember... The last thing she remembers is Jack, kissing her.
She opens her eyes and sees him standing with his back against a ladder and she's lying on what seems to be a cot, his cot.
"Hi there."
"Jack? Is Carys-"
"She's fine," he sighs, sitting on the edge of the cot, "You on the other hand..."
She begins to feel it, the pain in her stomach and she clutches it, trying to keep it controlled, to subdue it like Carys did.
"Why aren't I in a cell? What's going on, Jack? Where am I?" She sits up, frantic.
"The others are working on a way of getting it out of you, until then... there's only one way to keep it controlled and to keep you from killing anyone."
That's when Gwen realizes, Jack's braces are off his shoulders and his blouse is open. Her eyes widen, "Jack...?"
"I can't die, Gwen. I'm the perfect food supply, and if it makes you feel any better," a soft grin plays at his lips, "I'm glad it was you."
And his lips touch hers again, as well as the rest of his body.

Timeline: Set during "Captain Jack Harkness"
Jack came to the table, smiling, offering a glass of whatever the roaring 40’s was serving that night.
Gwen sipped at the glass, looking at Jack. Tilting her head a bit, she leans in, closing the gap. She searches his eyes, trying to unlock the answer.
Jack holds her gaze, hands busy with a glass. He can see her question forming and smiles. He’d be almost disappointed if she didn’t ask.
Licking her lips, Gwen’s gaze falters. Perhaps it’s not her right to know. But looking back, Jack’s eyes are taunting her, urging, daring her to ask…
“Who were you?”

There would be no declarations of love or intent.
“Why did you say yes?”
“You don’t get to ask me that Jack.” Not now. Not ever.
“I have to -- because nobody else will. They’ll accept that quaint little Gwen Cooper wants to be married off to a man who doesn’t even know her.”
No, you don’t know me. Not now, not anymore.
“…and so just because you’re Captain Jack Harkness there is more to it?”
“No, because of you there is more to it. You want to live Gwen. You want freedom. He’ll never give you that.” Jack’s voice was almost pleading with her.
“Rhys.” Gwen folded her arms and waited for his reply.
“What?”
“You never say his name. You want to know why? Because it makes him real and if he’s real you don’t get to play games with me anymore.”
“It’s not like that. I don’t play games with you.”
“All you do is play Jack. You play because you’re scared.”
“I’m not scared of you.” It’s a false bravado from Jack.
“But you’re scared of what you feel for me. I - I don’t have time for it because like you said, someday I‘ll want someone to love me.” Gwen’s sigh is loud.
The silence is deafening.
“Jack, you want me to wait for something that might never happen.” Gwen sighed and walked back up the stairs towards the main floor of the hub, “I’m not waiting any more, Jack. That’s why I said yes.”
