When I went downstairs this morning J and my mum were already up. They were standing in the kitchen chuckling together. It was disturbing.
My dad doesn’t seem to have taken to him quite the same way. I have a feeling that Dad believes I left H for J. My dad really likes H. He’s Welsh, watches football, drinks tea, and is his own boss. J is, for all intents and purposes, American, makes inappropriate jokes about balls, drinks coffee, and he’s my boss.
I’m just glad neither of them remember my wedding ceremony. I don’t think they’d think kindly of him crashing my wedding in light of our mutual feelings. I’m sure they’d be asking point blank whether or not we got together during my marriage or even before it. As it is they only want to. I can tell. They have that questioning look in their eyes. I hate that fucking look. It disappears as soon as they ask, which they almost always do.
