I'm not the biggest fan of Daniel Tash, but I do think he's got some funny bits, particularly when he mentions the show Survivor. Only in America would we create a game show out of people "struggling for survival" in places that people already live, and have lived, and will continue to live.
Today on facebook I saw an advertisement for a shirt that had a picture of a covered wagon and said "You have died of Dysentery," a reference to the classic game Oregon Trail. It's funny, kitschy, whatever, sure. I can appreciate the humor. But I can't help shake the feeling that it certainly helps to perpetuate the illusion that things like that have been wiped out.
I don't know, just a silly observation I guess. But it's still unsettling to me.
