price the coming winter

as we waited to cross the road
she said
"There's an angel!"
I looked but it was gone
"Where? where?"
she pointed
and with the move of her hands
the angel burst forth
from the long grass.
wings unfurled
it's tiny magesty
suddenly apparent.
holding her hand
I whispered "I love you"
as I prayed with all my heart
please god,
let this last a moment

It thinks it's so tough.
Hanging out with the older kids.
Trying to fake smoke
with hot breath in the cold air.
playing at being all wintery
like Janauary and Febuary
it's always tough on a middle kid.
sure the talk is tough but
when it tries to walk the walk
it's snow pants slip
and you see
it's green crocus underwear

"Environment Canada Talks alot of shit"
She said, as she was goosed once again
by the rude north wind that blew between us.

The coat we wore were acts of rebellion
but, too thin for the imperial onslaught
we were left exposed

When, with it's cold unyielding strength
it marshaled it's snowflake army 
to swarm and attack
