This icon should be the measure for all comments posted.
I do the same thing, kind of. I read my comments two or three times and think "How can someone take this comment? How will I correct myself if it's taken the wrong way?"
If it can be taken the wrong way, I try and rephrase. If it's going to get an icon like mine, I hit the back button and do something else.
I keep my mouth firmly closed whenever that sticky topic of race comes up for example, because there's a million and one ways I can reveal my utter cluelessness. I'm functional enough to know that dropping slurs like they're going out of style is the mark of a moron though! That stuff should be basic knowledge, like breathing and moving.
Thank you, seriously, it bothers me too. I'm also bothered by the posts where some awful thing has happened and people are like, "Ooooh this is awful, look at a picture of my kitty!!!" because no, that doesn't exactly negate anything bad that happened and it's rather insensitive, attention whorey, and lame. So yea.
I also agree with checking and double checking comments. I think very very hard before I post anything and if I find what I'm saying at all questionable, I just don't post it. I find that's a good rule of thumb. Of course, I've still said some stupid shit, but it could've been worse if I wasn't so careful about screening what I say.
This. Hehehehe! Srsly this is why I pretty much ditched the comms on LJ several months ago. I checked and commented on a SF_D post the other day for the first time in about 6 months, it's a shame. I think we're just teh oldz nao ;)
Oh I love a bit of drama me! But I've seen the above behaviour come from folks older than us too. Sometimes people get too used to viewing the world with blinkers I s'pose.
Yes def drink sometime, but I have loads of uni stuff on at the mo and am quite booked for the next fortnight or so. If I can't fit you in before, are you deffo coming to the late at the Science Museum on Weds 31st? Doitdoit!!!
