This is really sad news. By far, my favorite standup comedian. And, unfortunately, I missed so many opportunities to see him live (in part because I'm not 21). Which is especially disappointing when I start reading all these stories about his great live shows and how kind he was to his fans.
I'm not a fan of Doug Stanhope (The Man Show, those Girls Gone Wild commercials), in fact I find him annoying, but he seemed to know Mitch well and was one of the first to break the news in his blog, and has some surprisingly intelligent things to say about the situation.
Gonna listen to every single one of Mitch's jokes this weekend.
