OK, I for one am so excited for Jared to be in Friday the 13th. I know some people are moaning and groaning the fact that he is doing "another" horror film. However, I don’t think that is a problem. Lets start by going into the past shall we?

Jared has only been in one horror film, "House of Wax". People tend to think "Cry Wolf" Is a horror, but it ( Read more... )

I'm looking forward to it, but from the overall nature of the talkback from the fanboys on Ain't It Cool News (aicn.com), there's not much enthusiasm about this. Some are pissed off because it's yet another Friday the 13th, others are complaining because it's not even a sequel, but a re-imaging. Some don't like the director or the production company. I liked their "re-imagining" of Texas Chainsaw Massacre (this was the one with Matthew McConnaghey and Renee Zellweiger. I liked it better than the original.

I hope SPN fans will give this movie a chance, and maybe word of mouth will be better than people are anticipating. As for the Thomas Kinkade movie, he's sold a hell of a lot of paintings, and a lot of people might like him enough to check the movie out.

I agree with you, he'll be getting a really mixed audience between the two. I wonder how much, if any, crossover audience there will be, aside from people who are already Jared fans? There's also a possibility that by the time the Kinkade movie comes out on DVD, some of the people who saw the Friday the 13th movie will be curious enough to check it out.

What I'm really hoping is that some of each of those groups of people will want to check out Supernatural. I'm amazed they have so little about it on AICN, but maybe some day they'll watch the show and start to love it.

I think any starring role will be good for Jared at this point, as he'll get more exposure than if he were Fourth Guy on the Left in some movie with a huge cast.

I actually am excited that its a re-imagining of the original. I think just another sequil would turn people off and just another remake would do the same.

Thomas Kinkade has a huge cult following, people would no doubt flock to see this film.

Each one of these films have a fan base already, add in Jared's fan base and it will be amazing. These two movies are great because they already have fans. You know Friday will be number one the first weekend it opens!

I hope you're right! It will be interesting to see what the reaction will be when the number counters realize there's an unusually large proportion of females at the Friday the 13th movie? "Huh, how did that happen?"

LOL that is another thing that this will do for him. Build his male fan base. He has a lot of male fans already, but you are right. Teeny bopper girls, and women of all ages do love Jared.
