Which Japanese school should I go to...

*sigh* I want to start Japanese classes but I don't know which one to go to. Shortlisted schools are Bunka and Ikoma. My sister-in-law who has colleagues taking Japanese classed told her that Ikoma is more detailed in teaching hence slower than Bunka which is more like a crash-course ( Read more... )

Any decent school should allow you to take a trial lesson. It's good to suss out the teachers before you commit. They could have the best materials in the world but if your teacher sucks that's a lot of money wasted.

You have a good point there. Yeah, fees are non-refundable so it would be money wasted if I can't accept the teachers' style of teaching. Thanks, I'll call both school up tomorrow. ^^

Yeah, I agree. Someone just told me that she's currently in Bunka but a few of her friends/classmates eventually switched over to Ikoma. Seems like Ikoma would be the way to go.

Well, I don't know much about the locations but good luck. :)

ETA: You should enquire about visiting one class and seeing if you think it's for you.
Do you know what textbooks they're using? I own a lot of textbooks so I can tell you the good ones. :)

Have you learned Japanese before?

Can't help you with the schools but I would go for the more detailed-teaching one. It's a language. You can't crash-course a language especially if you want to continue. <333
