destiny
i want to take a trip in a pirogue with a sweet southern belle
she's wearing far too much clothing for such a spring day
a flowing white dress
a lacy petticoat underneath
and tight bustier
i'm wearing far too little
sweat soiling my cotton shirt
dirty denim jeans
she's seated at the bow
twirling a parasol between her fingers in the sun
i'm slowly rowing at the stern
looking forward at her
the bayou water seems oddly still for afternoon time
your reflection a mirror
that floats on by
dissapperaing in the fading ripples
the water is almost even with the bank
saturated and thickly wet
marshy grass and bursting with life
the watermarks on the cypress trees
moss hanging down to conceal it from hands
we stop
make love
and this is the beginning of the rest of my life
