I got back late last night. Our train was delayed by about 1h :(
I had a really good time in Paris with my mum. I'm glad we forgot all about our row and get along really well again. We arrived in the late afternoon on Wednesday, dropped our stuff at the hotel - which was conveniently opposite the station - and went for a walk around the Place Vendôme. We were stuck there for about half an hour by the police, who had closed the area for about 50 big black cars driving members of the turkish government to the Ritz. It was quite impressive, all those people getting inside the hotel with lots of photographers and all... We had a quick dinner then walked to the Olympia to see Valérie Lemercier. She was so damn great and funny on stage. I've always liked her in interviews or in films, but she's even better on stage! And it was great to finally be inside the Olympia. It's legend! So many great artists have played there!
Yesterday we went to the Grand Palais to see the Renoir exhibition. We bumped into odd people who were running around trying to figure out where to buy tickets for the Prince gig... The exhibition was ok. I really like Renoir's early paintings, but this exhibition had put together the paintings from the end of his life, so I didn't like them much. Still, it's good for culture, lol. We then went to the Champs Elysees for some shopping. We walked into the Swatch shop and my mum suddenly decided she wanted a new watch. The one she bought is so nice, I'm gonna nick it every now and then. I found the new Placebo single in Fnac for Amy, and couldn't resist buying the album. Haven't listened to it yet, but I will. In Virgin Megastore, they had all the Muse 12" albums. It was so hard to resist. Then I realised that I never buy things anymore cos I think I can't afford them, just because I don't wanna take money from my second account, which is full. I thought that was stupid and that, fuck it, I would buy them all, and now. So... I got them all.
I only miss Hullabaloo now... Yay!
After the Champs, we continued on Avenue Montaigne and drooled at all the Dior, Prada and Louis Vuitton clothes and bags in the windows. We had a walk along the Seine to the Eiffel Tower, when it was time to take a taxi back to the hotel to take our train.
Oh and random thing: I did my first Sudoku in the train, and I'm now addicted!
