Theme: Ambitions, Aspirations
The theme this time is “Ambition, Aspiration”. I have an aim about the things that I want to do going forward, like holding concerts in Tokyo Dome. But like I have been saying so far, rather than having a big dream, I think SixTONES is a group that knows the importance of focusing on the work that is right in front of us. That applies to solo works too, and everyone is heading in the same direction, and have the same thoughts regarding it. We are all originally scaredy cats who are unexpectedly delicate and worry a lot, so we are a group that has come so far without holding much expectations on things. Though we have confidence in ourselves, at the same time...we don’t. It’s contradictory in a way, but I feel that we have somehow gotten a good balance.
We get asked about our thoughts regarding going into overseas markets, but I think digital release of songs are important in order to let our music reach worldwide. However there are orders regarding these things, and I’m trying not to be too impatient about it. Since Arashi san are releasing music digitally now, we are now in a situation where we can think, ‘Since our seniors are doing it, someday we can too.’ Of course, I also know how there have been increases in comments from foreign countries in the YouTube comment section too, and am also really happy about how Imitation Rain’s MV aired on MTV thanks to the requests from the fans. It’s something I’m really grateful about. From “Fugou Keiji~”, I understood the power of anime, which is watched by people around the world, so I’m also looking forward to the response of “NEW ERA”, which is the OP of “Yashahime”.
Though I do hope to do something overseas someday, first and foremost, I want to treasure our activities in Japan. After all we know how scary it is to have too many expectations, as well as how accumulation of small things will lead to bigger results.
For my individual work, I want to appear in foreign shows as a model! The Dolce&Gabbana work felt like it was a dream...but I feel like possibility is not zero. As an actor, I got to be the lead in Paravi’s original story, “Kiwadoku naritai Otoko”, and am really grateful about it. After watching the finished product, it made me think that I still have a long way to go as an actor, and that the story is really cute (LOL).
In the music side of things, I don’t particularly have a strong desire of doing solo stuff. In the concerts too, I’d rather harmonize together with Taiga than sing solo. Doing it solo is lonesome, isn’t it (LOL). Since back dancing in (Kikuchi) Fuma’s solo concert (2017) was fun, I want to challenge being a back dancer for foreign artists. Because in our concert where we are the main, we don’t get to express ourselves using only dance.
This probably doesn’t match the word as big as “Ambition”, but the thing that will ultimately make me happy is for the people who listen to our songs to feel something from our music. I would be happy if the word, ‘SixTONES’ can enter their daily lives, even just for a moment. It doesn’t have to be anything big at all. It can be something small like reminiscing, “Ah~ I used to listen to SixTONES back then” when they hear our song play. I want to spread things like that more.
