So Far So Good
The pants are now 100% done! Yesterday I also finished all of the alterations from the mock-up fitting, and cut out the final jacket. Like the pants, the next step is to partially assemble the jacket, and paint the lines on before finishing. After that All I have is the bow-tie, and I now have a plan for that :)
I added an elastic panel to the back of the paints at the top waist. When I wore this same style before, the waistband could get annoying while sitting because it didn't stretch. There is also 1/4" elastic stirrups to help keep the hems tucked-in. The pointy shoes were a lucky find at a used clothing store.
The mock-up was a little on the quick and dirty side, but ultimately got the job done. I changed the neckline a lot, and decided on the style lines for the collar and tails. The center front overlap is now more shaped like in the movie. The jacket will be the same twill as the paints, but I have a shiny fabric for the lining of the tails and the collar. I am considering adding shapes strips of thermoplastic to the tails to make them curl :)
