Well, the alloted 30 days have passed. My novel stands at a slightly shameful 28,080 words. I had really hoped to get further on it.

Perhaps this will be motivation for me to actually do more next year, when I am planning to NaNo again.

NaNoWriMo word count, as of about midnight last night: 25,659.

I am clearly not going to "win". Ah well. I've learned a lot, and it's progressing well. I certainly mean to have several thousand more words in before the end of the month.

I did a lot of somewhat unusual (for me) things this weekend:

Went with several friends to the midnight showing of Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire on Thursday night, then went out to a very early breakfast (yay for 24-hour diners) with the same group of friends, where we discussed the film until about 4:30am. Okay, I just had the most fun writing a scene for my NaNo project that I've had all month. It was my first time writing Blair in a teaching role, and oh boy, no wonder people like this. My word count stands, as of midnight last night, at: 18,010. That's after writing more in one sittng than I have yet (by a couple hundred words, but still!), and working through a serious bout of writer's block.

This story really should have waited until Christmas, as it's a holiday story (first I ever wrote, hmmm). But it's been sitting on my hard drive doing nothing since I wrote it in September. All right. I am writing a bit more each day--by which I mean, the word count I do each day is going up as NaNo progresses. I actually did exactly 2,000 words tonight, for a total of 11,789. Yay me.

My NaNo count is now: 9789 words. Almost 10,000! Which is almost...1/5 of the count I need. However, every day I write more, which is all to the good. Perhaps I'll catch up this weekend.

Well, in spite of coming home from work completely worn out, I managed to write for a solid hour and a half, and get nearly 1500 words out.
