So I think its time for a recap of last night. I'm not too sure when I'm going to be able to post this, but I think i have to do something so I dont go crazy waiting.
I'm currently in some cafe/bar in Sydney international airport waiting to check in. Not doing anything is making me sad, so here we go. have a recap.
Might just start with the setlist, ey?
Chain gang:
I have no idea. I dont particularly care. What made anyone think a band with two girls who look like they belong on suicide girls running around half naked would be well recieved at a Panic at the Disco concert?
Where the average age of those in the audience is sixteen, and mostly girls in love with one Mr. Brendon Urie? Who knows.

I think thats all right, blackhotmetal, nova_33 and I went through it this morning.
Now the next part may take a while.
Recap:
So Blackhotmetal and I drove up from where we live to Sydney on Friday morning and got in at about 1.30, dropped off our luggage at the hotel
and headed over ot Acer. We joined the line that was kind of already really long even though it was 4 hours before the doors opened. Bit disapointing,
but we were lucky as we were surrounded by lovely people who kept us occupied for all of 3 hours. About an hour in one of the girls we were with pointed
out a guy walking past who had a pass on, so i joined her in following him arround in a massive circle, meekly calling out " escuse me" until he finally
heard us and stopped. Turns out he was a guitar tech for Cobra and Billiams stage dude, so we had a nice awkward conversation and let him leave.
Then about an hour later another guy with a pass walked by looking shifty who looked really familiar, then nova_33 hisses at me "OMG its Zack", as he
walked past he implored us to stop the pack of teenaged girls following him about 10m behind. So, basically I have spoken to Zack, pretty much the most
famous person I have come accross. I love the fact that PatD's security guard gets accosted by fans. Also, he was deceptively small. I thought he was big, but I found him incredibly un-intimidating. Perhaps because he was running away from teenaged fans.. High fives for Zack.
That was the end of the excitement of waiting, they let us in an hour early and made us sit in holding pens where the carpet was crappy. Then let us into the arena, where I managed not to find a friend I was supposed to be going with but got pretty far up the front of the pit. The waited, talked to some people and suffered through some wierd band from NSW whith suicide girls and Billiam and Vicky-T at the side of the stage whispering to each other.
Cobra- Was pretty awesome. I was really surprised, although I'm not quite sure what I expected, what we got was amazing.
Gabe was smiling the entire time and the entire band and performance blew me away. Theres really not much more to say except that I missed the presence of the purple hoodie. Sorry Gabe, I think the purple works better on you as a hoodie rather than skinny jeans. Just sayin'. Also, I did not know that Gabe has glasses? He always wears ridiculous sunnies, but his glasses are really quite adorable.
At one stage Gabe mentioned that he had been planning on retiring in Aus, just after an entire sydney arena had sung every word of the City is at War, indicating that that plan propably wouldn't work. The idea of Gabe as a little (or not so little) retiree on the Gold Coast leaves me all warm and fuzzy.
The Academy Is... -
A bit anti-climatic after the loud and energetic Cobra thing, I think it probably would have been better to have TAI before Cobra. But again, I was astounded at how good they were live. Also, Billiam got a very very nice haircut, which made me very happy =) we did get a preview in the summer love = forever young video, but I still appreciate it. Very much.
I really like Fast Times, and was really happy that they played my favourite songs off it. I was a bit (very) disapointed that they didn't play skeptics, but all in all it was amazing. Billiam is currently my favourite. He was wearing one of his little white t-shirts and jeans; all the while prancing accross the stage and generally looking incredibly attractive. I <3 Billiam. During Summer Love = Forever young he kept on holding up four fingers, then making an 'E', he deserves so much love. "About a Girl" made me want to give him cuddles for all eternity, he was putting quotation marks around "to be loved" throughout the song, the way William sings makes my heart ache. Its
heartfelt and utterly amazing.
Also, the tech we met earlier was on stage quite a bit :) go me.
Panic at the Disco:
Wow. By this stage we were incredibly tired and dehydrated. I think that they really need to find a solution to that. Realistically, who is going to leave the pit if they have a decent spot to get a drink? Noone, so whilst we were waiting for Panic to get onstage a couple of security guys were giving water to the people at the front of the pit, we however, in the middle of a press of people got none. All in all, three and a half hours in the middle of the pit with no water.
Enough complaining though. So they set up the stage, Zack helping out and the amount of FLOWERS.. Ryan Ross' artistic vision is quite special. Nova_33 says that they used the set from HCT and it took them all of 45 minutes to set up. Not really a fun wait, except when looking up at the guys in metal cages who were supposed to control the lights. They were pretty cool. Wonder how you get a job like that? best seats in the house, really.
I was told earlier that Panic wasn't so great live, that Brendon couldn't hit the notes, and truth be told, I was a little apprehensive as to how it would go. So basically, Brendon Urie has either improved DRASTICALLY or everyone was lying. The whole experienced revived my love for Bden dramatically.. his mannerisms, voice and clothing just.. so.. attractive.
I really don't like Ryan's singing on the record very much, so I was not looking forward to him singing, when Ryan was introducing Behind the sea I was a little worried. Again, I was very pleasantly surprised. I really enjoyed it and whenever he was doing back up vocals I squeed a little inside. His exchanges with Brendon throughout the show were lovely, and when Ryan Ross smiles the world gets a little shinnier and better. Also, Brendon smiling back = joy for eternity. Ryan Ross played with a mint green guitar. MINT GREEN. Admitedly, before yesterday I never really appreciated Ryan as much as I did the others, what with the awful haircut and pants (shallow, yes yes I am), but my level of love for one Ryan Ross has jumped. A lot. <3 Ryan
So Jon Walker got a hair or two cut. I saw the lj pictures going around the past few days and the emphasis was on the beard. My opinion, he looks EXTREMELY attractive without a beard, but then he always looked atractive. What I'm not a fan of is the lack of hair on his head. The haircut? No. The panic boys need to find a new hairdresser, methinks. Except for Bden, their
haircuts aren't very nice. I think. :( sorry. Appart from that I don't have much to say about jwalk, except that I got a really nice pic of him which I will try and link to once I have an internet connection. Its clear and everything =)
Ryan Ross, kindly step to the side next time so I can see a little of Spencer Smith. I understand that he has to have your back, but PLEASE.. I didn't see much of Spencer. This saddened be terribly as Spencer is my favourite even with his silly bandanas and too long hair. ilu Spencer Smith.. I tried to encourage him by cheering extra loudly when Jon found it necessary to introduce the band with two songs to go and he mentioned their drummer, Spencer.
They had a slideshow thing going on in the background the entire time which I think also came from HCT but it confused me. Quite a lot. During Pas de Cheval they had icky pictures of the insides of animals and such, not really a fan. Plus it stuffed up the majority of my pictures and videos because there was too much light coming from it. Although I have a lovely shot of Brendon during Time to Dance where he's framed by the glowing white tree thing. Again, I will try and link.
For the moment thats all I can think of, I'm sure I will be adding to this later. For the moment though I need to go see if I can find a CD
shop here and actually buy the Academy record. Wish me luck. And also we just discovered theres no wireless card in my laptop. Basically I
got the screwy one with a batery life of 20 minutes and no wireless. Lucky me. Hopefully I can continue this on the plane, because I don't
think I'm anywhere near done.
