My Birthday

It was a kind of rough day yesterday.  I had to go to work because I had a PD meeting to run.  The kids were sweet.  They made me cards and posters and gave me many, many hugs.  Still, I was in a lot of pain and kind of loopy from the Flexeril.  Ariel also got me a cake and put balloons in my room.  She also got me a cool pirate purse with one of her boutique corn bags in it, wrapped in pirate fabric, of course.

We played scattergories all day in class.  I didn't have the capacity to do much of anything else.  And the PD meeting went well.  Then, I drove myself home.  I took another Flexeril right after school, so I was conking out as soon as I got home.  I managed to do a little bit of work, and then I spoke briefly to TAF, and then I fell asleep on the couch.

I was very much out when Axo walked through the door bearing gifts.  I got 2 Keane CDs.  And I got a LONG overdue Auburn Lull CD... a follow-up to the one album I've had of theirs for a few years.  And then I also got a mix CD that Axo made me.  He found never-before heard tracks for me... like Damien Rice covering "Creep."  And a Sigur Ros song sung in English.  And he made a comic strip-like page to go with the CD.  It was very sweet.  I haven't listened to it yet, but the day's just started.  I'm finishing up one of the Keane CDs now, and then I'll make my way through the rest of them.

Did I mention that Axo also bought me things from the Snow Leopard Trust?  I got a little stuffed snow leopard, some X-mas tree ornaments made out of gnarly wool in the shape of yaks & rams, and a thangka.

Axo also took me out to dinner at Divina Cucina.

I guess the day was pretty good, it's just that I was unable to enjoy it with clarity because of the drugs.

And today? -- I'm home again... and loopy.  I can't drive anywhere, I'm in a brain fog, and there's no water in our apartment.  It's a little frustrating.  But at least I've got good tunes.

I hope I feel better tomorrow.  Like BETTER better.  This is getting old.
