Guilt and the things people do to assuage guilt and the sense of obligation....I'm glad that's not how the story ends....

Me too. Thank goodness Kagome found the courage to go through the well and tell Inuyasha her feelings after he told her why he had to say goodbye. People do not realize that they did really tell other their real feelings.

I know. If they had picked up on it, some of the fanon concepts would have never taken root...

What a wonderful piece. You totally captured Inuyasha's feelings of guilt over Kikyo and Kagome. This arc of the manga totally clues you in on the honor and loyality that in a part of Inuyasha.

Thanks, he knows that he wants Kagome. Kikyou has actually deserted him. Yet he feels so much guilt about what happened to Kikyou that he is not entitled to what he wants and so is prepared to correct Kagome even though Kikyou does not want him. Luckily, Kagome comes through the well and asks him if she can stay despite how he feels.
