This so reminds me of the old survey asking "What do you find most attractive in a woman?", "She's facing in my direction."

Hey man, that's powerful and heady stuff! Ya can't knock it, and it's hard to write it off as irrational.
But I completely know what you mean, that it does get one in a lot of trouble.
What can ya do...

Yeah, it has gotten me in a lot of trouble, such as when I'm hugging her goodbye and I am disgusted with myself. I try to avoid mentioning it, which I am always successful at, but it can be seen on my face. I'm fucking transparent.

Welcome to half of my relationships in the past. (Not you, I mean, but some of the others.) I once dated a guy that looked nearly identical to Mario. Why? He was nice to me. Sad, isn't it?

It's normal for people to be like that. Not as extreme as me, but a lot of people do settle. Everyone wants companionship.

Ditto on the "half of my relationships" thing. And some of those relationships could only be described, in retrospect, as "abusive".

I keep repeating the mantra "Learning experience, it's all a learning experience".
