Having just watched King Arthur again for the first time in about 2 years, I'm reminded anew of the fact that: given hot men in slashy situations with decent talent, thundering historical inaccuracies and a marginal script won't stop me from enjoying the film.
Does this make me shallow? To tell you the truth I don't really give a damn. My main criteria for whether a movie is good or not is usually based mainly on whether or not it entertained me.
There are exceptions, of course. A prime and current example would be The Pursuit of Happyness. A phenomenal movie with an incredibly outstanding performance by Will Smith. Did it entertain me? Hell no. It was one of the hardest movies I've ever seen. It was harsh and painful to watch. But that doesn't mean that it wasn't far and away above the ordinary. It also means that I'll probably never want to watch it again.
On the other hand, I can watch King Arthur many times and happily indulge in slashy fantasies to my heart's content.
Now, for some reason I have the buring desire to watch The Fast & The Furious now.
