I went down to try and start my car. No go. I called the head maintenance guy that I'm friendly with and he came and tried to jump start the car. Still no go. He said the battery sounds strong and since it only happens when it's cold it could be as simple as a little water in the gas lines that's frozen. That's both 'yay1' and 'boo!'. It means it won't be expensive to fix since a couple of bottles of Heat for the gas tank will cost about $3 but it also means it can't be fixed until the lines thaw and since it's below freezing and overcast that won't be today. I could kick myself for not adding Heat to the gas tank. I always did in my old car and I'm pretty sure I did in this one last winter. The brain farts just keep multiplying when you start getting up there in years.
Good news is that I arranged for a ride in the morning with the head cashier that's opening. It's a good thing I only live about a mile from the store and that I'm the only cashier he's going to have for the first couple of hours. He was really nice about it. I could probably walk it in a pinch but I'd be worthless when I got there. I really need to get back to eating better and build my stamina. I'm on my feet all day at work but it's usually a rather leisurely pace and I have a cart as a 'walker' which helps save my hips from the constant strain.
Also good is the fact that the storm front coming in this weekend is pushing a little warm air in front of it and it's supposed to be several degrees above freezing tomorrow and at least partly sunny. Let's hope that forecast stays true. After that, we'll see.
