Happy Independence Day to my American peeps
I'm semi playing hookey today. Department mgrs are supposed to work at least one of the summer holidays - Memorial Day, 4th of July or Labor Day - and today was going to be mine. Last night when I was checking online to see my paycheck amount for tomorrow, I happened to see my schedule for today and I wasn't even scheduled. I was intending to go in anyway and have the computer override my denied clock-in, but when I woke up this morning after a crappy night's sleep, my knee aching and a killer sinus headache. It didn't take much to convince myself to that I didn't really need to go into work.
I talked to the brother a couple of days ago. I'm going to pick him up Sat morning for a belated 4th of July. I have perfected killer bacon cheeseburgers. Along with some really good onion rings and a nice salad. Add in some homemade strawberry shortcake and we've got ourselves a tasty meal.
I have absolutely nothing planned today except to do nothing. And take a nice mid-day nap.
Luckily the people who live on the next block back always put on a good fireworks display. I'll be able to see a good show tonight without leaving the air-conditioned comfort of my living room. I just hope everyone indulging in fireworks keeps a garden hose handy. It is incredibly dry here in the Midwest.
