(no subject)
OK, busy morning so far to make up for the fact that I did absolutely nothing but sit on my ass and either read apocafic that I already had or search for more. Once upon a time I was going to make a comm for all things apocalyptic. I still really need to do that. A place for people to post their stories of doom, whatever the fandom, talk about movies, books, etc. I was considering whether to restrict it to slash or gen or open it to all pairings. Hmmm. I'll have to think about that.
But I digress. What I mean to say is, I didn't get shit done yesterday. I didn't do any of the cooking I was planning on, I didn't do laundry, I didn't take down the trash, and I didn't get any writing done on the spn_cinema story that's due in one week, exactly one week from today. *headdesk* I fail so bad.
So far this morning, I've made a batch of blueberry muffins (low carb of course), made a breakfast casserole like a spinach quiche but without the crust, roasted garlic for another batch of hummus, toasted coconut and almonds and chopped chocolate to go into the coconut ice cream I'm going to make as soon as the creme anglaise I made has chilled sufficiently. My ice cream insert has been freezing for nearly 48 hours so it's ready to go whenever. I made this low carb ice cream last year and it tastes great, but what you don't eat right away gets rock hard (like have to chip off pieces and then let it melt in your mouth hard) once it's been frozen. I can hardly wait to try the new trick I read about: putting just a little alcohol in at the end of the churn to keep it soft. Normally I think I'd add a little coconut rum or another coconut liqueur, but I'm not going to the store for it so I think a little brandy I have left over from something else will do. I kind of want to try making a margarita sherbet with a little triple sec and tequila in lime. Sounds really refreshing!
Anyway, time to go put the laundry on and take down the trash (there's 2 bags because I didn't feel like dragging my ass down last weekend). Then...writing! I refuse to default on this damn story even though I told the moderator that I might. I refuse!
The weather is so freaking perfect but I finally had to turn on the A/C about an hour ago because I'd had the oven on so long. I'll be able to open back up in a couple of hours though. Not only is the temperature moderate, but nearly unprecedented for the Midwest at this time of year, the humidity has been low for the last 1 1/2 weeks. Gaia has definitely been smiling on us lately.
