Well that was irritating and totally unnecessary

I had my regular appointment at the plasma center today but when I tried to sign in at the computer to do my questionnaire it told me to see one of the personnel. Then I was told to wait for the nurse. Then the nurse told me that I need an updated medical release from my doctor like the one she had to sign when I originally went to the center saying that my diabetes wasn't a health risk to me donating. This is the first I heard that it was a yearly thing but whatever. I filled out and signed the release form to be faxed to the doc and was told I'd have to be 'deferred' (i.e., can't donate) until the form is returned.

Well since I use a clinic that's only open one day a week and there's a good chance the form won't be returned until sometime next week after Tues I was a little ticked off. I didn't flail on the nurse because it's not her fault but I did comment that it was a little short sighted of the company to program their computers to notify people on the anniversary of their yearly review instead of oh, say a week in advance. Hell, I was there on Saturday! If I'd been notified then the form could have been faxed off and the doc could have probably had it back by today.

Very sloppy way to run things. It's a good thing I'm no longer relying on that money to feed me. It's just an extra cushion, a little mad money and something to feed the savings account now. It still pisses me off a little. I'm definitely making a notation on my calender so in case I'm still going there next year I'll notify them at the beginning of the month that the release forms need to be faxed to the doc. *grumps*

Now, it's time to tackle my spn_cinema story again. I still have the very end and a small chunk out of the middle to write. And then rewrite. And rewrite.

I'm definitely not going to marathon it today like Sat, though. I still feel wrung out from that. But probably part of that I can blame on my stupid sinuses and the fact that my body is having a little temper tantrum. The cold weather has finally descended and my joints are all achy.

But first! A new batch of homemade applesauce - with a twist. I love the stuff and even though it's sugar free and healthy it's still deceptively high in carbs. So I've been contemplating a way to cut the carbs a little. Adding berries (much lower in carbs) is one way, so I bought a bag of frozen blackberries. I'll add half of that to my bag of Golden Delicious apples. but I'm not stopping there. I'm going to add a medium zucchini, peeled, seeded and grated - very low in carbs, very neutral in taste - to bulk it out and make the sauce less carb heavy. Between the apples, the blackberries, the white wine, the touch of lemon juice and the cinnamon I shouldn't be able to taste even a hint of the zucchini. I'll let you know how it turns out. If it tastes good I might increase the zucchini just a bit next time.
