Thirteen days straight without a day off and I felt like a zombie with no brain-snack in sight.
Never again.
I had to keep my mind on the hefty paycheck I’ll be getting with 17 hours of overtime over the last 2 weeks on it.
Today (Sunday) is the first of 2 days off and I planned on doing absolutely nothing, yet I still found myself on my way over to my brothers on the other side of the city to take him on an emergency run to the store because he’s kinda sick as a dog with bronchitis. I was back in a couple of hours though, and it was a gorgeous day - sunny and around 70. Nice day for a drive.
I’ve felt like a vampire the last couple of weeks anyway, practically going to work at dawn and not getting out until the sun was setting or already down. But everything on the remodel got done on time and the ‘Grand Opening’ (we were never closed) went out without a hitch on Friday morning. We had WalMart bigwigs, the mayor of Blue Springs and Chester Cheetah on hand.
CC, one of the remodel crew who got a job at the store permanently (I’m glad, I really like her) asked me if I got some cake. When I said no, I was going to pass, she said, “Yeah, I know what you mean. I’ve only been here 3 months and I’m already like - yay cake.” (WalMart breaks out the sheet cake and the drop of a hat. Kinda nice at times because I get to have a small piece of cake without the temptation of a whole one hanging around after, but it can get a little old when applied too frequently.) They’ve also kept a big box filled with left over Halloween candy in the break room to keep everyone’s spirits and energy up the last week. I’ve partaken of the magic box a little too often. I need to break a serious candy habit now. :O
I felt the need to drown in mindless movies last night so I rented ‘Prince of Persia’ and ‘Percy Jackson, the Olympians and the Lightning Thief’. Both were OK, but nothing special. When I was returning them to Redbox on the way to my brothers I picked up ‘How to Train Your Dragon’ and ‘Toy Story 3’, both infinitely better than last night’s fare. And I’m so glad I did because my cable went out on me. Unless it comes back on PDQ I’m going to miss Ep 2 of The Walking Dead on AMC. I know it’ll play again, but I was looking forward to some zombie gore after all the animated cheer.
Well, tomorrow’s supposed to be another glorious day so I’ll run a couple of quick errands and spend a couple of hours at the library catching up on LJ. Then I’ll come home and laze in the sun on my brand new balcony while a load of laundry runs. There’s going to be some cooking in there, too. I think I’m going to make a big batch of Mexican style chili con carne with the lovely pork I picked up, with beans and onions and chilies and garlic. Yum! It’ll last me a good part of next week for lunches. And this next week will only be 4 more days because I go back to having Sat and Sun off.
