#DisneylandResortFact : Captain EO was a $30 million dollar project that was shown at Disney Parks. The film was directed by Francis Ford Coppola. Coppola, is better known as the director and co-writer of 1972 Oscar winning film, The Godfather. The executive producer was non other than the Star Wars creator, George Lucas. It starred Academy Award winner, Anjelica Huston, and hit recording artist, Michael Jackson.

The plot of the story was Captain EO (portrayed by Michael Jackson) and his alien crew were on a mission to deliver a gift to "The Supreme Leader" (portrayed by Anjelica Huston). When Captain EO and his crew arrive to there planet. They are captured by the Supreme Leaders henchmen. She demands that the crew be turned into trash cans and Captain EO be tortured for a 100 years. Captain EO refuses and using his power of singing and dancing to change her mind. That's a very short synopsis of what happens in the movie. I'll include a link of the film off youtube for you guys to check out if you wish.

Captain EO flew into The Magic Eye theater in 1986 at Disneyland. The film is regarded as being the first 4D films. 4D because it was a also a 3D movie and had a lot of in-theater effects from smokes, lasers shooting in theater, and rumbling chairs. Captain EO's 3d special effects were no joke at the time either. Guest wore 3d glasses and had asteroids, lasers, and starfields extending out to them in. The film ran for 17 minutes and costed an estimated $30 million to produce. averaging about $1.76 million per minute. To go along with the movie was a behind-the-scenes documentary special entitled, Captain EO: Backstage. And was part of "The Disney Sunday movie". It originally aired on May 15, 1998. Captain EO was only ever shown once on MTV. It was obviously and down-converted 2-D version of it. It has never aired again, nor has it officially ever been released on home video.

Captain EO is one of the only few attractions to ever leave Disneyland and come back. The first showing at Disneyland was on September 18, 1996. It ran until April 06, 1997. It was later replaced with, "Honey, I Shrunk the Audience!". After the death of Michael Jackson in June of 2009. Captain EO made it's way back to Disneyland on February 23, 2010. This time it was billed as "Captain EO Tribute". In March 2014 Captain EO was pulled out of the magic eye theater. Now renamed the "Tomorrowland Theater". Was used to show previews of the "Tomorrowland" film starring George Clooney. Also other upcoming Disney movies such as Guardians of the Galaxy and Big Hero 6. Disneyland claims that Captain EO tribute is on a hiatus right now. But no official word of when it'll come back. I'm glad I got to catch this when I first went to Disneyland and loved it. Like I said I'll include the link of the film right here. Keep in mind this was a 3d movie and no official release was ever release. This is a in theater filming. And this is the best I've seen online. Without actually having to be there to see it in person in the theater.

I had a request to do every single deaths at Disneyland. I'll start that next week. Thanks for reading and look forward to writing the deaths at Disneyland.
