p.s. - live in chicago by yourself, i hear all the cool kids are doing it...
p.p.s. - university of chicago isn't downtown, it's in hyde park which is on the south side, i assume that's where her lab is (unless it's the downtown campus). that's still a commute from downtown-- about 20 minutes for driving if it's NOT in rush hour, probably similar for train and way more for bus. unless you live on the south side (which i don't think you'd enjoy), commuting is going to be hell either way.
i dunno. i doubt that i'll end up doing that this summer. but if i did, the only possible ideas i have are to live in jake's apartment by uic, becuase he had to lease it for a year or to look into staying in their dorms, which would probably make it expensive and therefore not a good idea becuase i have to make enough for financial aid. so i dunno.
if you were living in jake's apartment and getting there via cta, i'd definitely say that's not a commute you'd want to make by yourself at night. you'd also have to essentially go around the entire loop. i guess driving would be ok, but there's so much traffic that i'd probably kill myself. i'm not sure why i'm writing so extensively on this but whatever!
