I've been a Nanny now for two years. I'm over it. As much as I love the kids I've watched, I have had my patience tested and tested...I'm ready to challenge myself in other ways. This week I start a new job, not quite sure what the challenges will be, but I'll soon see. Yesterday and today I was able to do manual labor. I'm loving it. It has been about 10 years since I've been this active physically. The showers afterwards are amazing and falling asleep hasn't been this easy in so long. I love that my nails are full of dirt and my face has a layer of tan on it at the end of the day. So far I've met 8 horses. One ...named BARNEY...is a huge dude. Today, he stuck his entire head in his water bowl, up to his eyes mind you, and blew bubbles through his nose. He has a sense of humor...his personality shows all over the place. Another horse, Silver, has had no interest in us, she only cares about food. She's fat. I like her.
There are two properties that the horses are staying on. One is owned by a rumored alcoholic crazy lady. I met her, she seemed nice. The other is owned by a family who watches tv in their screened in porch. Both properties are in old town Poway. The property I'll be working on has two run down chicken coops. Maybe someday I can keep chickens there. There are also two dogs, one black lab named Player or something and a Blue Healer named Blue. There's another volunteer who brings her 9 year old (or so) daughter. She likes to hug everyone. She's a cutie. So many little things have brightened up my life. It's good.
This last weekend I went camping with my boyfriend. It took us until the middle of the first morning to relax...we kept trying to relax but it wasn't happening....then when it did, it was great. We got a little glimpse of one another in a happier state than we've seen recently. I was able to lay out, read and eat....he was able to start a book he's been meaning to, chop wood for the fire and play the banjo among the trees. i just hope he remembers the relaxation and not the hassle. I'd like to do it again.
