Brainstorm

There's no better way to feel good about your day than to start it by listening to Popol Vuh on the way to school.

Today I was at the library and glanced at the notes that the person sitting next to me was writing. She had written in flowery alternating neon coloured pens "Proletarians = low class people".
Then at the coffee shop they were playing like... Rilo Kiley or Death Cab For Cutie or whatever other bands there are like that and the guy at the counter with an asymmetrical hair cut gave me a knowing look like "I know THIS guy likes Rilo Kiley! Unlike all the other lame losers that come here."
SORRY. We have nothing in common. I'd rather hang out with my grandparents (or anyone else's grandparents) than spend 10 minutes talking to you.

Earlier today I met with one of my students about their essay that's due this week. All of my students seem to be flipping out. I've gotten innumerable emails over the past couple of days being like "Does my essay need to have five paragraphs?" or "do I need an introduction?" or "so what's this paper on?"
However, this student was the only one who actually decided to meet with me to get some help. He hadn't taken a non-science class since grade 12, so he was a bit lost. But by the end of our long conversation, he was like "wow! I'm not so stupid after all! I can do this!!" That just made me feel so awesome.
GOD I LOVE BEING A TA SOMETIMES.

(only sometimes)

This week is really killing me. But LAURA is visiting on friday. I can't even begin to express how excited I am. To paraphrase her quoting John Lennon, she's the only one I feel is in my tree.
