I've been in remiss as far as writing entries go, unfortunately I always remember when it's too late, and I can no longer afford the luxury of wringing one out at some late hour. I must keep regular hours once more, my body is finally beginning to accept it.
Speaking of my body, it has been malfunctioning of late. I've been carrying a nasty leg injury for the past three weeks, and suddenly it has taken a turn for the worse. I was walking down a mountain one damp Saturday afternoon when I slipped and fell awkwardly, twisting my leg inwards. There was a sharp cracking noise, and I thought I was in tremendous trouble. With the help of my fellow walker I was able to hobble down to the bottom with an arm on a shoulder. Certain subsequently forced me to delay receiving medical attention. I shouldn't have put it off for so long however, as last Wednesday, despite me thinking things were healing up, I rested my leg on the edge of a chair, at which point I felt the whole lower leg moving sideways, there was a sickening crack and a pop, and suddenly I was in more pain than ever. I went to the doctor on Friday, and she commented that my left leg was vastly swollen when compared to the other. When she pressed the spot, I couldn't help but yelp in pain. She ordered me to go to Accident & Emergency immediately, with a request for an X-Ray bearing the word URGENT at the top. Most of the text was a description of the circumstances of my fall, but written at the end was R/O Fracture, whatever that means. I really want to know. Having been X-Rayed I heard the radiologist (I presume) saying Yeah, that's a natural, again whatever that means. Having said all that, I was told there would be no results until next (i.e. this) week, and off I was expected to toddle. Hmmm. I really hope something is diagnosed soon, and that I can be returned to health. Spending my weekend stuck in one room trying to move as little as possible so as not to elicit gasp-inducing pain is not my idea of high-living.
In the absence of the physical ability to transport myself to places, I have instead been having to rely on my memories and imagination to take me away. I've been devising various holidays I want to go on, including a Japan by sleeper train holiday where I travel to a new destination every night and awake to find a new place to explore. It would cut out the need for separate accommodation and travel funds, as I could kill two birds with one stone. I'm yet to cost this up though, it could actually end up being more expensive as theses things sometimes bizarrely are. For some reason I still want to go to Guangzhou, Hong Kong, and Macau. They have a sort of energy that has been drawing me lately. Until such a time as my body has healed sufficiently, my thoughts will have to take me there.
There is more to say, but sadly pain prevents me from spending too long concentrating on this. Until next time then.
