What did you do when your kid wanted to go to school? I'm talking about little kids. My son has been to school and tells me he never wants to go back. My daughter is only 4, and she's asked to go. There aren't any homeschoolers in our neighborhood, all the kids she knows go to school. She thinks it will be big fun, like the little kid shows on t.v. She's so outgoing, I can understand her wanting to be where there are lots of kids. I was thinking of going ahead and sending her, but I've changed my mind. She just finished up an ice-skating class. She was so into doing it- just being there and learning something new was enough for her. But then the teacher started giving out candy and stickers and that became the big deal to her. IF you asked what she liked best about ice-skateing, she'll tell you "candy". Made me remember how my son had loved learning just to learn before he went to school, but by third grade it was all about the grade for him.
I don't have a problem with telling her we're homeschooling and she can go to school when he's older if she still wants to, but I don't want it to feel like a punishment.
