Over the weekend,
aflightoffancy and I went to the Waterford Fair, which was lots of fun, of course. We go to that one pretty much every year, so we had everything kind of mapped out already. It's kind of a given I go there for the food, since that's the place I pick up lamb sausages at every year. They had a lot of honey stands, but I already have honey at home, and we're going to the Renn Faire again on Saturday, so I'm saving my honey-buying. (I might get killer bee honey this time.) I also bought potpourri and a reed diffuser from a stand that sells some amazing potpourri, and maple sugar candy. I looove maple sugar candy. They're little melt-in-your-mouth leaves of pure awesome.
Also, I bought my nephew Lightning McQueen slippers and he's decided they're his new shoes. They're a bit big for him, so it's adorable to see him trundling about in them. He keeps putting them on instead of his sneakers, to the consternation of his parents. Indulgent aunt strikes again!
Fandom note of the day: I don't really like how people tell shippers of slash or femmeslash or noncanon ships: 'there is more than just romantic love' as if they don't know that. I'm sure most of them have friends and they're aware of the fact that their friendship is close but nonromantic. However, one can read possible romantic subtext into friendly relationships and ship them because you think they'll go well together as a couple, or you think they're hot together, or whatehaveyou. I especially dislike this critique when aimed at 'fan-made' queer couples, because there's a nasty element of homophobia under it. Especially when I see that 'they're just friends, what's your problem?' critique aimed significantly more at the slash/femmeslash pairings than at the fanon het couples.
