Okay, so this fic is hilarious. Four Consequences of the Unexpected and Unlikely Friendship Between James T. Kirk and Nyota Uhura It's got Jim and Uhura being BFF in a girlfriend-y sort of way, including Bajoran shopping for bitchin' earrings, bubble tea, Jim getting a black eye, and Uhura beating Jim in fencing while Spock smirks approvingly. Hilarity abounds.
And this: Taking the slower path (we'll get there in the end) It's pre-slash, but even those who don't like slash might like it. It's more building up to friendshippy than anything, and has Jim interacting with the rest of his crew as well. And tension. And chess.
Aaaand this: Having, Wanting Spock Prime and T'pring in the movie 'verse. For those of you who know who she is and how the events of TOS Spock's pon farr went down, this fic has impact. And a LOT of irony.
