Seriously, the more Clamp stretches out this food motif, the more mundane it looks to me. I mean, symbolism is all well and good, but Watanuki is coming off as an enormous dickhead here. I read it and all I can think is: "The woman does not want to eat her own cooking. She is harming no one by doing so, and you are both intruding into her personal life and being a self-righteous ass by continuing to press the issue." Because he just is. We have this woman standing there, clearly in emotional distress, and Watanuki just continues to shove her self-hatred in her face. You are the worst cooking teacher ever. I hope a polar bear falls from the sky and lands on your obnoxious face. Meanwhile, if anything happens to the poor woman as a 'consequence' of her being unable to eat her own cooking, I think I will kill a helpless gerbil.
