If anyone gets the reference from the subject of this post, I will award you major brownie points.

Meanwhile, .

Count me among those who find this yet another unpleasant surprise. I hope the main cast survived that, or I will be displeased like anything. What's more, if Tsunade, Kakashi, and all the older nin die because of this, I will call bullshit. And not just any bullshit. 'Kill off the mentor' bullshit. And I can see it happening, because only Kishimoto and JKR have the poor story-handling skills to pull off an epic mentor doomsday bomb.

It's already been made clear that Kishimoto finds this somehow necessary, because for some reason people have the misguided belief that the teacher has to die in order for the student to grow. As opposed to being less present in their lives or moving away or being called to battle elsewhere. But I hoped he at least had the grasp in storycrafting to do it one at a time, with impact. Pain just blowing everything skyhigh is a cheap attempt at shock.

And now Pain is just annoying me with his grandstanding. For fuck's sake, man, talk like a human being. This emotionless robot Zechs act is really obnoxious.

xxx-Holic is kind of starting to grind on my nerves with this plotline, mainly because they're putting so much impact on such a stupid, small thing: a woman who won't eat her own cooking. The way Watanuki reacts, you'd think she starves her own children. "Won't eat her cooking!" he screeches, "There must be something intrinsically wrong with her point of view of her own identity! How could she do this? How could she find what she makes disgusting? How could she find her own self disgusting? I WILL FORCE HER FUCKING FOOD DOWN HER SKINNY, MALNOURISHED GULLET."

When in reality she would have a psychological condition and Watanuki would be a naive little asswipe for trying to do this to her. It's like sticking an OCD hypochondriac in a daycare so they can face their fears.

Oh, that zany Clamp.

On the plus side, I'm totally digging the Penny and Aggie guest strip. Maybe because Penny's knocked down a few pegs, the spotlight's on the more interesting of the side cast, and it's got that element of sci-fi/fantasy in it that I enjoy so much.
