I scored a coup at work today. My boss has a friend of his haul out the trash from the business. It costs him nearly $400 to have the thing pulled. They had been having it pulled ever six weeks. But since I've been there and have been taking the carboard, plastic, and shredded paper up the street to the recycling center, they skipped June and July pulls, saving $780. Further, he saw me taking out the cardboard out to my car today. He asked what I was doing and I told him I wasn't letting any more cardboard go to the landfill than I absolutely had to. He gave me permission to lean on the rest of the employees about separating the recyclables and I found that Knoxville Recycling Coalition will furnish covered bins free, and charge only $10 to come empty them. The will furnish a cardboard collecter for the same pickup price. Even if we have a pickup every single month, and have four bins....that's less than $1000 a year compared to the at least $2220 per year he's paying now.
Can we say "SCORE!!"
