Thanksgiving!

Hello! I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving! Mine was pretty quiet. I went out Wednesday night with my friends from school. Let me tell you, it's been a LONG month! I easily kicked back three Amaretto sours and a strawberry margarita and could totally have had more if I hadn't been so exhausted (yawning at 9:00!) and younger. I know my limits and I don't push it. ;-)

I came home Thursday at noon for Thanksgiving with the family. My aunt, uncle and cousins came to our house. We are spoiled. We went out to dinner for Thanksgiving. We went to the English Inn where we had a delicious dinner. Most of us had the traditional turkey dinner (no green bean casserole, though, which I love!), but my sister and one of my cousins had chicken. We don't get together with each other at Christmas so we exchanged Christmas gifts a little later in the evening. My aunt got me two new pairs of Vera Bradley flip flops (I get tons of compliments on my other ones!) and a candle. All very wonderful gifts. I love the flip flops and they are way too expensive for me to buy for myself.

Black Friday. Not a big day for us. We don't like the crowds. Usually we were in Wadsworth for Thanksgiving so we just went shopping at the stores downtown. Now that we stay here, we went to downtown Lansing instead. We went to Old Town. Not many stores where I can afford their things, but I did get a few things. I had been complaining to my mom about not having any time to do Christmas shopping. We went out to Target later in the afternoon, around 3:30, when the crowds had died down. I did indeed manage to get most of my Christmas shopping done. Yea!

In other news...

Jeff and I celebrated our one year anniversary on the 22nd. This was the day I had always thought Jeff would be proposing to me. However, he came up with this dumbass deal a few weeks ago in which he would propose on December 14th if I would stop bugging him to propose. Not thrilled with this idea, but I want the damn ring, so I agreed to it. So I told myself all day that I was not going to get my hopes up...

We had reservations at the English Inn for 6pm. I got all dressed up in one of my formal dresses --- my bridesmaid dress from Katie's wedding! I never go anywhere fancy enough to wear it, but I felt the English Inn was probably one of the only places where I wouldn't stand out too much. ;-) Since the English Inn is in the Lansing area, we went to my parents' beforehand. Jeff asked me before we left if I had my camera. I said of course I did. He asked if I was planning on bringing it to the English Inn. Um, yes... Hmmm... At my parents', I was asked if we were coming back afterwards. No, we're just going back to BC....

Dinner was really nice. We got a four course meal: pineapple shrimp, salad, salmon (for me, chicken for Jeff) and mango mousse for dessert. Jeff seemed really pre-occupied during the meal. He seemed to have a hard time coming up with things to say as well as keeping the conversation going. He announced that he wanted us to get our picture taken on the staircase before we left. OK, that's fine. "I think I should go check." "No, I'm sure it's fine. I don't think you need to go ask." "Well, I just want to make sure." "OK, go ahead." Hmmm.... But no, I won't get my hopes up...

As we were eating our dessert, Jeff asked me if I was happy. I said I was. "Could you get any happier than you are now?" Well, I could, but I'm not allowed to say it. "No, I guess not." When we through, we left our things at the table and went to the stairs for our picture. I expected Jeff to stand on my right as he always does for pictures. Instead, he went to my left. And then he went down on one knee. "Oh snap, I dropped something." No, you didn't... "No, I didn't. [brings my ring out of his pocket] Elizabeth Krolik, will you marry me?" "Yes!" Yea!!! No pause, no tears, finally relieved that it's happened!

That's right, folks, I'm finally officially engaged!! Woo woo!! :-)

I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving!

boys, holidays
