not an experienced mover

I feel like I am coming down with something. Sigh.

My high school friend moved to NY from San Francisco few months ago. However, since she is in a relationship with someone in the West coast, she decided to request a transfer and they are going to be living together back in the west coast.

I'm going to be buying her queen size mattress. It was annoying to plan out, since she has people staying over at her apartment. She left NY yesterday, but I am suppose to go pick up the mattress on Sunday. I rented a U-Haul (why is it that they only rent it for a day at a time?) van, so we should be picking it up in Manhattan, getting the mattress, and then driving back to Brooklyn.

Afterward, we figure we might as well hit Ikea and get this glass case we've been eyeing, but never able to get, since it's longer than a normal car.

I am hemorrhaging money. Uhg. I needed to buy new sheets (I bought one set of nice fitted sheets. I figure if we need more in the meanwhile, we have clean full flat sheet to tide us over until we get more.) and I picked up a marked down pretty Badgley Mischka bed skirt.

I bought a metal platform bed that was cheap and got GREAT reviews. I just couldn't find anything else in my price range that didn't seem like they would fall apart (like a lot of platform beds in Overstock).

I've googled the difference between platform beds and box springs, but really I don't understand which is better and why. I guess if you get a really nice box spring with real springs, it might be worth it, but slats just seem to be the way to go. I want to sleep on a nice bed. (That's my favorite part of sleeping in a hotel - they usually have nice beds. I kind of love hotels. I miss my hotel room in vegas. It was 720 square feet. The bathroom was the size of my bedroom. I had a king size bed. My room had 3 TVs, WTF? I wish I could have just spent more time in there. HAHA.)

Mattress
Bed
Bedding
Glass Case (to put some items on display)
Uhaul
-------
$550

I guess since the mattress itself retails for around $1000, I'll be getting a deal. Money I really cannot afford to be spending...

I hope I'm not sick. Sunday is going to suck if I am.
