Who: Aerith, Lapis WEAPON
Status: Closed
When: About 6:00AM
Where: Seventh Heaven and right outside it.
What: Aerith wakes up and isn't in the best of moods.

A case of post-rigor mortis and a trip on an emotional roller coaster did not make a restful night. A shower, warm bed, and fresh clothes had soothed Aerith somewhat, but her mind wasn’t as exhausted as her body was. There were too many things to think about. She would fall asleep for an hour, if that, only to awake from some murky dream that she couldn’t recall. Then, she would think. It was like trying to put together a puzzle without the pieces. More than once she thought about getting up to talk to Zack-but she didn’t want to bother him if he was getting the rest she couldn’t quite seem to capture.

Eventually, she did fall asleep for a few hours. She didn’t know when, but her mind finally ran in enough circles to warrant some rest, and the next thing she knew the clock beside the bed read 6:15. The blankets covering her body were warm, and it reminded her of being a kid and playing house underneath a blanket draped over several chairs.

It would have been tempting to just hide underneath the blankets, to play pretend, to not face the world and the cold morning air… it would have been very tempting were there not such a feeling of overwhelming disappointment weighing on her chest.

She was still alive. Still there, in the bar and breathing and living and looking up at the ceiling and trying not to feel upset. Trying not to be mad at the situation, mad that her friends and Zack and herself had to be put through this. Part of her had hoped that maybe, if she fell asleep, that she wouldn’t wake up.

But she did, so she had to live for a second day. She had to make the best of it.

The cold did not help her stiff limbs as Aerith pushed herself up and out of bed. She wrapped the blanket around her, attempting to keep some of her precious body heat. Her appearance, she had found as she had looked into the mirror the night before, was sickly at best. The shower and a good brushing of her hair had helped, but she was still alarmingly pale. Dark lavender moons had found their way under her eyes, and despite the copious amounts of water she had been drowned in throughout the day before, her lips looked dry and chapped.

And it seemed that she wouldn’t be free of water anytime soon. Walking over to the window, Aerith saw the rain and registered that it hadn’t stopped since it began during the night. That explained the biting cold, or so she hoped.

It was a little depressing that it rained on her second morning alive, she thought. A little sunshine would have improved her mood.
