Searching for Yuffie had been tiring and more than a little stressful. Cloud had tried her apartment to no avail and then moved to where the battle had taken place and the surrounding area. He had feared he might find her stuffed in a garbage can and left for dead or that he might find her dead in the first place ( ... )

She still hadn't moved from her place, and instead pulled her newly purchased phone from her pocket to stare intently at it. She briefly wondered if she should try calling him, but there was still the idle worry that one of those women would answer instead. Yuffie scowled at the inanimate object one last time before shoving it back into her pocket and slowly began heading back to her apartment. Going to Seventh Heaven now wouldn't do her any good anyway, Tifa was probably asleep and if Cloud really wasn't there then she'd only make the older woman worry. Now was definitely not the time to upset the martial artist, so maybe in the morning, Yuffie reasoned with herself.

Her gaze was sullenly focused on her feet until she was back where she had started, a short distance from what she called home. Cloud stared up at the window that he knew was Yuffie's apartment, but he couldn't yet decide if he was worried enough to break-and-enter on her. She might be in the shower or something, and he wasn't all too keen on increasing the probability of her yelling at him more by walking in. No, he would check for signs of life first.

Leisurely, he walked around the building. He had to keep his pace simple with his leg, but he still hadn't seen any lights on in Yuffie's place. Maybe she was asleep.

That thought left him as his keen hearing picked up on her voice calling his name. He turned to regard the direction that he had come, blinking to see Yuffie sprinting at him. This was bound to hurt, he thought as he pulled his hands from his pockets and had to take a step backwards as Yuffie jumped at him.

He didn't even get enough time to comfort her before she was gone again. He didn't avoid the punch to his shoulder and sighed a little. "I'm glad you're okay. I was worried about you," he murmured softly. "Did they hurt you?"

Yuffie rubbed uncomfortably at the back of her neck and looked away. He really made it hard to be angry with him when he did that. "Worried, huh?" Well, that definitely made her feel bad for having first assumed he'd left her behind. "I, uh... No, no. I'm all right, it's nothing a potion can't fix, you know?" Not counting the new horn on her head, but she was sure the swelling could go down over night as long as she didn't hit it again ( ... )
