Dear Yuletide Santa!
Well howdy, Santa!
Before I get into the knitty gritty of it all, I'd just like to say a super-special THANK YOU in advance for signing up and being awesome. I'm sure I'll love whatever it is you write for me, and I hope that you have fun writing it. The writing is always the bit I enjoy most, and I love that special feeling that someone has written something for me.
In general, I'm pretty flexible. I'm a big fan of gen and character studies, the ins and outs of friendships and how relationships evolve and change over time, whether good or bad. My kryptonite is mantears, followed very closely by hurt/comfort and the underdog winning in the end!
I'm not big on slash, but if it's well written and doesn't crap on any pre-established canon relationships, or at least explains them away in a believable manner, then I'll go with it. While sexytimes are fun, if you're not comfortable with writing it, don't force it. Platonic love is so much more interesting.
Anyway, down to the business side of things:
Request 1: Fables (comic) - Any Characters
Details: would love to see the Fables characters present during important historical events. We know Bigby fought in the World Wars, but what did Charming do? Snow? Cindy? Has Frau ever influenced the Mundies on a global scale?
My favourite thing about Fables is that it's an ensemble cast that ebbs and flows. Characters seen in the background can end up as main characters, and the reverse happens just as easily. I also love the idea of this underground world, just on the fringe of things, where people live in society, but don't involve themselves. But there are those few who choose to strike out and dive right into the Mundy world. There are lots of major world events that have happened throughout the Fables time on Earth, some of them had to have been involved somehow. They attract so much trouble I find it hard to believe otherwise.
Request 2: Glee (tv) - Any Characters
Details: How would the Glee kids and co handle an Apocalypse? Discuss. Zombie/Nuclear/Natural Disaster, whatever floats your boat really. Come hell or high water I'm pretty sure they'd still try and get to Regionals!
So, um, this crack idea has been floating around in my head, ever since I noticed that Finn seems to have a bit of a Zombie Apocalypse obsession. I started to write a fic myself, but the idea intimidated me a little because I feel like it could be so awesome, and I"m not sure I could handle it. Santa, I am confident that you are that awesome. Seriously. Don't be afraid to kill people! It's not an apocalypse without death. But I don't have any requests as to who needs to be offed-- surprise me! I don't hate anyone so much that I need them to die, but I don't love anyone that much either XD. But I'd prefer a light-hearted approach to it, rather than a dark and dire one. Part of the reason I love Glee so much is that it tackles these reasonably heavy issues with such candor and lightheartedness that I feel like it wouldn't even take the Apocalypse that seriously.
Request 3: True Blood - Bill Compton/Eric Northman/Sookie Stackhouse
Details: I love the love triangle between Bill/Sookie/Eric, but I don't like fandom's tendency to crap all over Bill and have Sookie run into Eric's arms. Bill is missing, Sookie'll need help to find him again. Eric is the obvious choice, but trust needs to come first.
I love the slow-burn of the Eric/Sookie relationship on the show, and would love to see a little more of it, the tension, the building up of mutual trust, the vulnerability (bloody man tears are awesome) and yet, I really do admire Sookie's loyalty and honestly don't believe that she'll just jump into the sack with Eric the minute Bill is out of the picture. Who's taken him? Will he ever come back?
I have read the books, so I know what happens with the equivalent plotline there, but I'm not 100% sure it'll go the same way on the show, or that I want it to. Where do you think Bill is? Will Sookie find him? Will Eric help? What will the price be? And not just for Sookie. Eric is showing some serious cracks in the facade as well.
Request 4: Fables (comic) - Briar Rose/Cinderella/Prince Charming/Snow White
Details: Prince Charming is dead in the comics now, but he's such a popular character amongst the Mundies, they won't last long without him. What would happen if a new Charming arrived from the homelands? Is he a rake like the last one, or an *actual* Prince Charming? Can he integrate into Fabletown and the community, or will he have difficulty fitting in? Bonus points if he has interactions with either his Ex-Wives or any of the other Princesses
I don't really have much more to explain about this request. While I strongly ship Snow/Bigby, I am fascinated with the dynamic between Snow and Charming. I can only imagine I'd feel the same way about the dynamic between Charming and his other two ex's if we got to see a little more of it in the comics.
Hopefully, kind Santa, that gives you some food for thought. I'm very flexible and will read anything. Don't feel like you need to include everything, I've just asked lots of questions in order to spark the muses. If something jumps out at you, just take it and run.
