One of the things that I've noticed since I started reading submissions again is how often violence against women pops up in stories.  I don't know why I am noticing it more often.  Maybe it's become more prevalent in submissions.  Or maybe I've become more sensitive to it.  (I'm pretty certain it's the former rather than the latter.)
