Yo.

Me:      Hello, Live Journal?

LJ:        Uhh, Yeah?

Me:      Listen… I know it’s been a long time…

LJ:        You’re goddamn right, it has.

I’m back!  Welcome to my new and hardly improved live journal!  Actually, I’ve just been so bored at work lately…  It’s the end of the academic year here, so there are very few classes and a lot of days with special activities… which really means that, well, I don’t have a job.  In these 20 days of March 2007 I have read 5 novels.  Some of them were really good, and some of them were shit on a stick.

Really good:     In the Company of the Courtesan - Sarah Dunant

The Five People You Meet in Heaven - Mitch Albom

Shitty Stick:      Any book written by Alex Kava.

Now here’s the deal.  I like to have some books to read… for excitement, and to fill in my free time at work.  But when you start writing about how a cool young male coroner type, on the way to investigate some dumped bodies, just HAS to listen to the Dixie Chicks?  It’s that up-tempo, kick-ass, country sound!!! Yeah!  Gets me pumped UP!  Alex Kava, when I read that…  I’m laughing, sorry.  I just… I had to stop reading your crappy books.  I had to tell my mom to stop giving me books by Mrs. I-am-a-mid-west-housewife-and-I-can’t-stop-being-one-ever KAVA.

I like subtlety in my reading.  And I ran out of books to read… which explains why I have brought my computer to school today.

I went to Osaka this weekend for the annual sumo trip, and it was a total blast like always.  Me, Kate, Erica, Liz, Melissa, Gregg and some other jerks really rocked out.  We went to the Pig and Whistle and we drank real pints and we met a bunch of silly foreigners we never even SAW before!  I met a guy named Lesley who sells titanium.  We also had Mexican food and we went to the disco and danced the night away!  Maybe you should see some pictures, no?  Anywho, I totally like stuff.

Oh yeah, I got married too.  Haha.  It’s funny though, because nothing has changed really.  Takeshi is fabulous.  And so am I.  I STILL haven’t paid for the wedding party… haha!!!  I tried to transfer the money at an ATM a couple weeks ago; because no one told me that you can’t just push a button and send off like 1,450,000.00 Yen.  So it didn’t go through.  I have to go directly to the bank to make the transfer.  But the bank closed at 3pm and I work until 3pm so I can’t really go… so now it’s been over a month since the party… all that food and drink and we haven’t paid a dime.  They probably think we hauled ass to Mexico and bought a few donkey carts full of coke.  It actually sounds pretty good.  I think I’ll get a chance to do it today.  I mean the transfer, not the Mexicoke.

Other things must be done as well, now that we’re married.  We have just gotten thank you cards going (we’re late bloomers) and we have to tell people how much we appreciate their gips.  Then we have to apply for a visa for me.  This is also a big pain in the a-n-u-s-h-o-l-e.  Then we have to plan some kind of Michigan visit for this August.  It’s all so complicated… but it’ll be over soon maybe never.

Today is a very interesting day!  It is Tuesday the 20th of March, but we get the day off tomorrow for some solstice.  Just in time for that sign of the seasons, it’s a beautiful spring day and the forecast for this week is super warm.  So tonight we’ll probably go out and have some beers and chicken like we usually do.  It couldn’t come at a more perfect time.  It’s just such a great feeling to have a day off in the middle of the week.  It allows for jobs to be done and fun to be had.

Had lunch then, half the day is over.  I’m still holding on to the hope that I can leave early enough to get to the bank today.  I really need to get rid of that money.
