A few snippets of what's been going on round my way...
Fab tea party at sushidog's. Phantom Of The Opera (silent film not the musical) at the Royal Opera House with live orchestral score conducted by Carl Davis: brilliant! New job going well. New boss a bit on the vague side. Everyone seems nice. No-one likes to maintain an out-loud running commentary on what they do (I once worked with someone who did, believe me there are few things more annoying!). silenttex singing the Firefly theme *swoon*. Finally figured out who my new director reminds me of (been trying to figure it out since he inteviewed me): it's Ed China of Wheeler Dealers. The Devil Wears Prada: fab film, lots of fun and lots of fabulous clothes and accessories! Great night out last night for easterbunny's birthday - cubes of rare steak on cocktail sticks makes an amazing canape!

Word
This one comes from trampledamage.

sprachgefuhl noun A feeling for language; an ear for the idiomatically correct or appropriate.

As trampledamage said, rather ironic that it's so difficult to pronounce! Perhaps that just means we don't have it.

Death
Former US Rep Gerry Studds, first openly gay person to be elected to Congress, aged 69, from a blood clot in his lung. CNN obit here. Great to see the words 'his husband' used so casually.

Quotation
"Fashion can be bought. Style one must possess." - Edna Woolman Chase (editor of Vogue 1914-1952)
