WHY DID YOU ENLIST IN THE ARMY INSTEAD OF THE AIR FORCE? I always enjoyed walking in the countryside, which is what we did a lot of in Vietnam. After a few months, I realize that walking in that particular countryside was a really bad idea.

Anyone know of a company looking for a talented writer/editor/talk-show host? I suddenly have a lot more time on my hands.

Heh. There's a company called Quixote Capital Management, with a logo that clearly suggests the story of the man of La Mancha.

I'm not sure I'd want to describe my investment philosophy as "Quixotic."

Suggested slogan: "We use your money to tilt at windmills."

Whee! My boss liked the last two live radio shows a lot... and she's agreed with others on our marketing team that we should revamp the show to at least sound live each week. Which means... I'm hopped up on sugar. A co-worker brought in a dozen cupcakes from Sprinkles today. Apparently, this is a fancy schmancy chain out of California, and it just opened up its first shop in Dallas near Preston and Northwest Highway.

Wow. It's January 3, and I just got my W-2. I don't think I've ever received my W-2 this early.

Now, if only the DMN and Jenny's employer would send us theirs, we'd be on our way to an early refund! Well, we hope it's a refund, anyway...

I'm all excited to begin my new job on Monday, Aug. 21. My first true day shift (other than the Top 200 sessions) in six years.

And then I take a closer look at the schedule: I'm slated to work a layout shift on Sunday the 20th. 3:30-11:30 that night, then an 8:45 start the next day. Whee!
