so, i basically got a job today.
YAY!
when i got home from school last week, i began immediately searching for a job. i asked around at several places, and asked everyone of openings.
alf, my brother and i went to merry ann's diner one night to get some food, and on a whim, i asked our waitress if they were hiring. "YES" she said. she explained to me that they were desperately seeking people to fill positions, and that if i needed someone's name to put as a reference, to put hers (?).
so today, when i was in the shower, my dad called out to me and told me that a man had just called from taffy's, which is a restaurant in champaign owned by the same people as merry ann's, and that they wanted me to call them back. so i did.
i talked with this nice indian man named stacy who said "we need someone to operate the grill from 7am-2pm, can you do this?" and i said "uh, yeah?" and he said "ok then, come in on wednesday." and that was that. as;flasflj isn't that weird? no interview. no check to see if i could actually man the grill. they didn't do all of the etc. etc. that i expect to have to go through before i get a job.
so, anyway, i'll be working this job seven hours a day, six days a week. i'm kind of nervous for my first day, just because they didn't give me any kind of preparation or training for this, and i feel a little bit like i'm just going to stare at the tickets and say "uhhhh...." but then i also think "i have cooked so many eggs in my life, so many hamburgers, so many hashbrowns, etc. etc., i really don't have anything to worry about." so, that's the attitude i'm going to keep, and hopefully, everything will work out well!
so, if anyone in the area wants to come in between 7-2 on wednesday, and get some food, and then comment to whomever is serving you that the food was delicious, and then maybe even try to give me a thumbs up or a wink or something, that would be great!
