For aeron_lanart who wanted to see what was missing from One Foot in the Now. I tried to make this one an actual 'missing scene' rather than a continuation and it's designed to slot in after Gauis's “You’ve been tinkering about with magic again haven’t you, you impudent rascal?”
It's a Kind of Magic(k)
What Jack knows about magic, the real kind - the kind that needs a ‘k’ and possibly an ‘s’, is that Merlin had had it; all he’d had was some fifty-first century tech and a failing power cell.
Not that Gaius had believed him about the magic. Same as he’d never really believed Jack hadn’t bedded Merlin. Or his prince.
And they'd each had their appeal. But having seen the way Arthur looked at Merlin (while appearing not to) and the way Merlin looked back…
Arthur would merely have had him executed. Merlin could, and would, have been far more creative.
