Of all of them Jack wouldn't have expected it to be Toshiko. Toshiko, ever the analyst, for whom the very idea of not being in control was terrifying at best. And yet here they were, two feet away from each other and she's doing her level best to worm her way inside his mind.
And he's out of practice, so he feels the barriers falling between them - soft as the first flurries of winter snow - before he can stop them. Before he remembers how this works. Before he can school his features into blank neutrality and turn to face her.
